Brooklyn Scaffolding Collapses Injuring Three

On Sunday June 30th, 2019, a sudden boom shook a Brooklyn community when scaffolding came crashing down off of a 12-story building.

Heavy Winds Blamed For Scaffolding Accident

The building, Parlour Condominiums, has been under construction for some time and workers have been using scaffolding to do work on the outside of the building. At around 3 p.m. on Sunday, heavy winds picked up. Below the scaffolding, at a bar next door called Mission Dolores, many patrons were enjoying the day at outside seating.

Then the wind caused the scaffolding to come tumbling down. Witnesses say that the entire building shook with an impact.

The wood and metal came rushing down to earth, crashing through glass and landing on several bar patrons. Three people were injured including a woman who sustained a serious head injury. She was rushed to the hospital.

The Department Of Buildings Issues Violations To Contractor

The Department of Buildings is investigating the accident and has already issued four violations to the contractor in charge for failing to safeguard the construction site. Additional violations and fines could be issued throughout the investigation.

Head Trauma Common In Construction Accidents

It's no secret that the materials used in construction accidents are heavy, so it isn't shocking when those materials fall from a height and hit a person, head trauma occurs. Head trauma can be fatal and if the victim survives, they may never be able to enjoy life they way that they did previously.
