Box Truck Crashes Into Toll Booth, Worker Injured

Two toll booths are closed for repairs and a toll worker treated for injuries after an accident during the holidays.

Driver Of Box Truck Loses Control

While heading towards the upper level of the George Washington Bridge, the driver of a box truck lost control of the vehicle around 4:14 am, striking two toll booths. An employee inside of one of the booths was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries.

Police have not yet determined why the driver lost control and the accident is still under investigation.

Toll Booth Workers At Risk

Toll booths must be manned day and night so that travelers always have someone to take their toll. While accidents can happen at any time of the day, booth workers who work at night are at higher risk due to lower visibility. In addition to this, many drivers are behind the while while exhausted and are more likely to fall asleep while driving.

Any toll booth employee who has been hurt on the job has the right to seek compensation. Compensation may come from two types of claims: A personal injury lawsuit and a workers' compensation claim.
