Three National Grid Workers Hurt In Explosion

At around 1 a.m. in Brooklyn, three National Grid workers sustained serious injuries to their faces and arms when a gas leak resulted in an underground explosion.

Workers Hunt For Source Of Gas Leak

At the time of the explosion, the three workers were excavating underground, searching for the source of a gas leak. Investigators are still unsure as to what caused the spark and resulting explosion, however, the source of the gas leak still hasn't been identified.

First responders rushed to the scene and took the three injured employees to the hospital where they were treated for their injuries. Two were released but one was admitted to the hospital for ongoing care.

Burns Are One Of The Most Expensive Injuries To Treat

Burns of all degrees require proper care to heal, but often the healing process is complicated by infection and other issues. This is why burn victims are often hospitalized for extended periods of time and in a burn unit where they are isolated. Hospitalization may last for weeks or even months, costing a patient thousands of dollars in medical care. Additional treatments may include skin grafts and surgical debridement of the area.
